Next Storm Opponent Scoops Up All-Pro WR

Ahead of its big clash with the Storm this weekend, undefeated and defending AFL champion fortified its receiving group.

Tampa Bay (7-1) and Philly (8-0) kick off at 7 p.m. from Wells Fargo Center. Darek Sharp will have the play-by-play call on sister station 1250 WHNZ. A win and result elsewhere (Baltimore loss) would actually clinch a home playoff game for the Storm with more than a month left in the season.

From the Arena Football League – The 2016 ArenaBowl Champion Philadelphia Soul announced that WR Larry Beavers (5’11, 175, Wesley College) has joined the 2017 roster.  This will be Beavers’ sixth season in the Arena Football League and first with the Soul.

“I am excited to have Larry on our roster for the remainder of the season,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel.  “He is great wide receiver and will be a welcome addition to our strong receiving core.” Beavers joins the Soul after a successful season with the Cleveland Gladiators in 2016.

With the Gladiators, he tallied 50 receptions for 703 yards and eight touchdowns.  He was awarded Second Team All-Arena in both 2016 and 2014 for kick returning after recording 220 returns for 3,999 yards and eight touchdowns. In his five years of Arena Football, he has totaled 165 receptions for 2,189 yards and 28 touchdowns.
