Rasmus Activated From Disabled List

After signing him to a one year, $5 million deal in the offseason, the Tampa Bay Rays had to wait to get Colby Rasmus on their roster after the team decided that he wouldn't be ready for the start of the regular season as he came back from hip and core muscle surgery.

That wait has come to an end.

The Rays Tuesday activated the outfielder from the 10-day disabled list.

Rasmus played in just four games for Tampa Bay in the spring, going 2 for 9 with a home run and three RBI as a designated hitter.  In his rehab assignment with Double-A Montgomery, he went 2 for 20 in six games with the Biscuits.

To make room on the active roster for Rasmus, the Rays designated outfielder Shane Peterson for assignment.
