Buccaneers Pick Up 5th Year Option On Mike Evans

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday during the annual pre-draft press conference that the team had exercised the fifth-year option on the contract of Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans. Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht made the announcement Monday morning that will keep Evans in a Tampa Bay uniform through at least the 2018 season.

"I hope Mike is a Buc for life," said Licht. "Today we picked up his option; it wasn't a very tough decision. We'll take it from there. I can promise you at some point, I can't tell you when, but we'll be contacting his agent to try to make him an offer that will make him a Buc for the long term."The Buccaneers had until May 3 to pick up Evans's option year.

Evans just completed his third season with Tampa Bay racking up 238 catches for 3,578 yards and 27 touchdowns so far in his Buccaneers career.
