Robertson, Mallex Learn They Made Rays

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays made what should be their final round of cuts.

The team informed outfielder Mallex Smith, infielder Daniel Robertson, and reliever Jumbo Diaz that they will be a part of the team, and outfielder Peter Bourjos that he will be selected to the active roster for Sunday's matchup against the New York Yankees.

Infielder Nick Franklin, however, learned that he would not make the Opening Day Roster, and that he had been designated for assignment.  The Rays now have ten days to trade Franklin, place him through waivers, or release him.

Tampa Bay's 25-man roster is now set, though the team must make one additional move on the 40-man roster to add Bourjos, which must be done before rosters are set at noon on Sunday.
