Two Non-Roster Players Told They Made Team

FORT MYERS (620 WDAE) -- For the first time since 2013, the Tampa Bay Rays will have multiple players who were non-roster invitees to camp make the 25-man roster on Opening Day.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that infielder Rickie Weeks and reliever Tommy Hunter were told this morning by manager Kevin Cash that they would be a part of the big-league squad on April 2.

According to Topkin, both players had to be informed by today whether or not they had made the team.  They do not need to be added to the roster before April 2, just informed of the decision.

Weeks and Hunter become the first pair of non-roster teammates make the Rays since 1B/OF Shelley Duncan and RHP Jamey Wright made the team out of camp in 2013.
