Gaither Ballplayer Is A Stud On AND Off The Field

Danny Gutcher is a junior at Gaither HS here in Tampa. Not only was he the starting catcher as a sophomore for the Cowboys State Championship team last year, he's also #2 in his graduating class of 2018 with a 4.0 GPA.

If he doesn't end up playing pro ball, Danny wants to study neuroscience at a little school named Princeton, if possible.

This clip from Gaither's win yesterday over Sickles in the famous Saladino Baseball Tournament is truly symbolic of Danny. The team is down to its final strike, its final out and Dan Man hits a two-run blast over the football press box in left field. Gutcher finished 3 for 4 on the day, he stole two bases and threw out two players trying to steal from behind the plate.

Notice there's no bat flip, no showboating, no slow trot around the bases, no stop at the plate and display of me-me-me attitude. It's all about the team and doing things the right way.

The kid is a leader and a special person on and off the field.

We need more Danny Gutchers in this world.

Ron and Jay gave Danny some props on air Wednesday.
