Saladino Day 1 : Steinbrenner Defeats East Bay 16-2

In their first step to try and repeat as Saladino champions, Steinbrenner defeated East Bay 16-2 in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Jefferson.

The hitting star of the day for the Warriors was senior shortstop CJ Van Eyk, who was 3 for 3 with four runs batted in, including a double in the 1st and a two-run blast in the 4th.

"I just saw the ball well. He hung a curveball and I got a good piece of it," Van Eyk said of the homer.

Tyler Lala reached base and scored four times. Patrick Morris smoked a ball off the wall for a double and had two RBI. Noah Luke and Cam Coakley also had a pair of runs batted in.

"We took some good swings at hittable pitches and were able to put something together," Head Coach John Crumbley said.

Huston Richter, Chase Campolong and Ryan Glass combined to give up only two hits and two runs.

Jorge Collado hit a sacrifice fly in the 4th for the Indians.
