BASEBALL


Plant 6, Steinbrenner 1

Plant (4-1) junior Chase Sanguinetti went 3-for-4, with a double and three RBI to lead a Panthers offense which pounded out six runs on 11 hits to defeat Steinbrenner (5-1). AJ Hubbard went 2-for-4, with a double and a run, while Brock Fagler and Zach Koch each recorded two hits and an RBI each. Ethan Richards earned the win tossing four shutout innings improving to 3-0 on the year, while Connor Scott earned the save in relief allowing one run and striking out six. Anthony Cassos solo home run in the 7th accounted for Steinbrenner’s lone run.

 

Carrollwood Day 9, Bell Creek Academy 1

Zachary Watts, Dillon Baker and Kyle Benedict each drive in a pair in the Patriots (4-2) win.

 

Cambridge Christian 4, Lakeland Christian 3

Caleb Faris went 2-for-3, with a double and triple for Cambridge Christian (6-2), while Duane Drummond had a pair of RBI in the win. Austin Carter threw six innings of relief to earn the win. Cambridge Christian is now 3-1 in district play.

 

Gaither 3, King 1

Jose Cadenas was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Orlando Alverado hit a double, drove in a run and scored one, and Chipper Holland was 2-for-3 with a triple in the Gaither (4-1) district win over King (6-2). Tyler Tipton earned the win improving to 2-1 on the season.

 

Brandon 11, Tampa Bay Tech 1

Teddy Flynn had four hits and Nico Saladino had three to help Brandon to a district win.

 

Hillsborough 12, Chamberlain 4

Nick Romano had a two-run home run to help power Hillsborough (3-2) past district opponent Chamberlain. Romano and Aaron Jensen finished with 3 RBI each. Matt Lutton earned the win for the Terriers.

Jefferson 16, Spoto 0

Matthew Gaffney was 4-for-5 for the Dragons with 2 RBI, while Robby Martin tallied 3 hits, including a double and 3 RBI. Andrew Mathis also had three RBI for Jefferson (5-0), while Jack Rodriguez struck out eight and earned the win.

 

Wharton 10, Sickles 1

Drew Ehrhard belted a home run for the Wildcats and added two more RBI on a double, giving Aaron Cohn all he would need on the mound as the senior righty struck out five and earned the win.

Blake 13, Middleton 4

Elijah West was 4-for-4 in the Yellow Jackets win with a double and 3 RBI, while Jacquez Rivers went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI as well. West also got the win on the mound striking out nine in four innings of work.

Mary Beth Feldman struck out 7 to earn the win for the Wolves, while Leah Zatkiewicz went 2-for-2 with a triple, Maddie Lynn was 3-for-4, and Bailey Cross drove in 3 runs.

 

Brooks DeBartolo 13, Tampa Prep 2 (5 innings)

Alyssan Chevalier went 2-for-4, with 3 RBI, Victoria Lancet doubled and drove in 3 runs, Natalie Hernandez had 3 hits and an RBI, and Sarah Thinger had 3 hits and scored 3 runs for the Phoenix.

 

Plant City 1, Bloomingdale 0

Sophomore Ashley Blessin allowed just three hits in the shutout win while striking out 10. Junior Beka Schulte drove in the Raiders lone run. For the Bulls, pitcher Alexys Lawson struck out eight and allowed just one run on three hits.

Sydney Paleaz had two home runs and 4 RBI, while Tarriyona Gary also homered and drove in 4 runs for the Patriots.
