Berkeley Doubles Up Brooks DeBartolo 8-4

The Berkeley Buccaneers kicked off their District schedule with a bang as they doubled up the Brooks DeBartolo Phoenix 8-4 on Tuesday night.

Julian Bosnic was the hitting star on the night going 3 for 4. He had an RBI double in the 7th inning coming two innings after a grand slam to left center in the 5th.

"Down 0-2 I like to take it the other way, and he just gave me a pitch down and away and I hit it out," Bosnic said of the blast.

Bosnic injured his ankle last April and was out for the rest of the season so nights like this mean the world to him.

"It's just great to be back on the field with people I love playing with," Bosnic said.

Carson Weekley and Spencer Myers accounted for five of the team's eight runs and Coach Richie Warren loves their aggressive style of play.

"Those two are some of the best in Hillsborough County," Warren stated. "We want our guys to swing at pitches early and in fastball counts."

Myers and Davis Childers each had RBI singles.

The Buccaneers were up 8-0 in the bottom of the 7th, but the Phoenix showed a lot of grit in cutting the lead in half.

Cross Corinti came in to score on a wild pitch before Johnny Diaz knocked in two with a single. Jackson Alvord then plated another run with a hit of his own, but Khalib Bayona struck out Logan Eade to end the game and secure the victory for Berkeley.
