SOUZA'S READY TO GO: Outfielder Steven Souza Jr., who ended 2016 by having hip surgery, is ready to play spring games.

The team said that Souza will make his Grapefruit league debut Wednesday, when the Rays take on the Phillies at Charlotte Sports Park, playing right field and leading off the batting order.

"I feel very blessed to be able to walk out tomorrow and be in that lineup," Souza said Tuesday.  "I think that if we needed to, I could have walked out day one, but getting that extra week because of the WBC is just going to be so instrumental to recovery and for the long season."

BECKHAM HEADS OUT ALSO: Tim Beckham has played around the infield so far, but will head further out Wednesday.

Beckham will play in the outfield for the first time in his Major League career Wednesday, as he will be in left field for he game against Philadelphia.
