The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-0, 1-0) stunned the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles (0-1, 0-1) 24-21 in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday.
The opening to the 2024 College Football season was a memorable one. Florida State came into this season after a perfect regular season in 2023, and ranked 10th in the nation. Tied 21-21 at halftime, Georgia Tech took a lead early in the 4th quarter when Jamal Haynes ran in a 2-yard touchdown. Roydell Williams tied the game with a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 21-21 with 6:33 to go in the game, setting up last minute heroics.
Aidan Birr hit a 44-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Yellow Jackets to the upset win. FSU quarterback DJ Uiagalelei went 19-for-27 with 193 yards passing, while Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King went 11-for-16 with 146 yards passing. Neither team completed a touchdown through the air.
The Seminoles will return home to Tallahassee to host Boston College on September 2nd.
