Panthers Take 2-0 Series Lead Over Lightning

The Florida Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Tuesday night in Sunrise. The Panthers have now taken a 2-0 series lead in the Best-of-Seven first round playoff series.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the game thanks to goals in the first from Sam Bennett and Vladimir Tarasenko. Tampa Bay answered with a tremendous second period, getting goals from Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos to tie the game 2-2.

Both goalies played exceptional games - Andrei Vasilevskiy went 34-of-37 in net, and made some incredible saves throughout this game. Sergei Bobrovsky went 21-of-23 in net and also made some incredible saves to give the Panthers a shot in overtime.

Tied 2-2 in overtime, it was former Lightning player Carter Verhaghe scoring to lift the Panthers to the win. Florida has now won 11 straight overtime playoff games.

The series now shifts to Tampa for the next two games. Game three of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Thursday at Amalie Arena, with game four set for Saturday at 5 PM.
