The New York Islanders (22-17-12) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (27-20-5) 6-2 on Thursday night in Elmont, New York. It was the second loss in as many nights for Tampa Bay, who fell to the Rangers on Wednesday night.
Nikita Kucherov and Brandon Hagel scored for Tampa Bay. The Islanders scored three in the first and three in the second as goalie Jonas Johansson went 18-for-24 in net.
The Lightning continue a four-game road trip when they head to Columbus to play the Blue Jackets on Saturday. Puck drop from Columbus is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday night.
