The Tampa Bay Rays (90-57) defeated the Minnesota Twins (76-70) 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon in Minneapolis. For the Rays it was their 90th win of the 2023 campaign.
The Rays built a 4-0 lead in the early innings thanks in part to a second inning RBI double from Yandy Diaz and a third inning RBI double from Curtis Mead. Unfortunately for the Rays, that lead would not hold as the Twins got two in the third and two in the fifth to tie the game.
Tied 4-4 in the ninth, it was Randy Arozarena who was the hero, as he came through with a two-out solo homer to give the Rays a 5-4 lead that would be the difference.
The Rays now head to Baltimore for a huge four-game divisional series beginning on Thursday. First pitch from Camden Yards is scheduled for 7:15 PM - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
