Lightning Beat Coyotes On New Year's Eve

The Tampa Bay Lightning (23-11-1) defeated the Arizona Coyotes (13-17-5) 5-3 on Saturday evening at Amalie Arena.

After falling behind 2-0, Tampa Bay scored the next three goals to take a 3-2 lead. Steven Stamkos goal on the power play at the 11:12 mark of the second was the 498th goal in his tremendous career.

The Coyotes tied the game 3-3 just 1:32 after Stamkos's goal, but the Lightning got goals from Alex Killorn and Brandon Hagel to give Tampa Bay a 5-3 win.

Andrei Vasilevskiy earned the win in net, going 28-for-31.

The Lightning finished 2022 with a three game winning streak, all of the games coming at home. Tampa Bay begins 2023 on a three game road trip that begins on Tuesday night against the Blackhawks. Puck drop from Chicago between the Lightning and Blackhawks is scheduled for 8:30 PM on Tuesday night.
