Lightning Start Road Trip With Win Over Blackhawks

The Tampa Bay Lightning (37-12-6) defeated the Chicago Blackhawks (20-29-8) 6-3 on Sunday night in Chicago.

The Blackhawks took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, before Taylor Raddysh tied the game early in the second period. Patrick Kane gave Chicago a 2-1 lead at the 6:09 mark in the second, before the Lightning took control late in the second. Victor Hedman and Cal Foote scored 1:31 apart and the Lightning led 3-2.

In the third period the Lightning made some history when Victor Hedman, Corey Perry and Mikhail Sergachev all scored thirty-two seconds apart to give Tampa Bay some separation. Though Alex DeBrincat scored to pull the Blackhawks within 6-3, that would be as close as Chicago would get, thanks in part to Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Vasy made 24 saves in 27 shots against to pick up the win, including some highlight reel saves throughout the game. Marc-Andre Fleury took the loss for Chicago, going 26-for-32 in net.

The Lightning continue a western road trip on Tuesday night when they head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets. Puck drop from Winnipeg is scheduled for 8:00 PM - pregame coverage begins at 7:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
