Rays Stay Hot In Baltimore, Push AL East Lead To Three Games

The Tampa Bay Rays (67-44) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (38-71) 12-3 on Saturday night in Baltimore. The win is the third straight for the Rays and they now lead the Red Sox by three games for first place in the American League East.

Though the Orioles took a 3-2 lead in the third, the Rays answered with two in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the lead. They began to blow the game open with an eight run fifth inning, thanks in part to a grand slam from Brandon Lowe.

Shane McClanahan (6-4, 3.75) picked up the win after pitching seven innings in which he allowed three earned runs on five hits while striking out eight and walking one.

The Rays now will attempt to sweep the Orioles on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz and This Week In Rays Baseball at 11:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
