Kyle Trask Record Day Leads Florida Gators To 44-28 Win Over Georgia

A record setting dayfor Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask was the difference as the Florida Gators defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 44-28 in the annual rivalry match up held in Jacksonville, FL. Trask became the first quarterback in the history of the SEC to throw for four or more touchdowns in five consecutive games as the Gators offense was the story as Dan Mullen secures his first win as Florida’s head coach over their arch rival.

The day did not start the way the Gators would have wanted as Georgia took the first play from scrimmage 75 yards for a touchdown as Zamir White put the Bulldogs up early 7-0.Following a three and out from the Gators offense, Georgia scored quickly again as quarterback Stetson Bennett found Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for a 32-yard touchdown pass putting the Bulldogs up by two touchdowns in the first five minutes of the game.The night would end for Rosemy-Jacksaint on the score however as on the tackle into the end zone his ankle was turned completely backwards forcing him out of the game.

That’s when Trask and the Gators offense went to work outscoring the Bulldogs 38-7 to end the first half, and 44-14 for the remainder of the game.Trask led his Gators to six straight scoring drives including four touchdown passes to four different receivers. Trask found Justin Shorter to get the Gators on the board at 14-7 followed by an 11 play drive on the following possession ending with a Dameon Pierce two yard touchdown run tying the game at 14.

The Gators never looked back as Trask found Kyle Pitts for a 25 yard touchdown score, and Kemore Gamble for a 24 yard touchdown and the Gators were up 28-21.Trask finished his record first half with a touchdown pass to Trevon Grimes for 14-yards and the Gators were up big 38-21 over their rivals in the SEC East.

Trask finished his day 30-43 for a record 474 yards passing, the most yards for a Gators quarterback against Georgia in the entire history of their rivalry.Trask finished with another four touchdowns on the day increasing his Heisman hopes for next month.

Malik Davis led the Gators with 100 yards receiving on five catches, and Pierce led the Gators in rushing with 52 rushing yards on 15 carries.Florida outgained the Bulldogs 571-277 in the game.

The Gators will host Arkansas next week in Gainesville.
