Emily Domenech knew that many of those who wanted to be at Arlington National Cemetery to honor loved ones wouldn't be able to this year because of Covid-19 restrictions, so she took to Twitter to ask if anyone would like her to visit a grave for them. By the end of the day she had visited the graves of 60 soldiers whose family or friends had reached out on Twitter!
I'm so glad I saw this on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt this morning. This was such a moving way to pay tribute to so many American heroes and provide some level of comfort to their families or friends, and probably the most beautiful thing to come out of this stupid pandemic.
I wish I had time to embed every tweet, but click through to Emily's profile if you'd like to see all of the graves she visited.
Thank you to the men and women who have served our country, especially those who have given everything to us, and thank you to Emily Domenech for honoring so many of them when their family members couldn't this Memorial Day.
