(via Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has re-signed outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul to a multi-year contract.
Pierre-Paul (6-5, 275) has amassed 21.0 sacks since being acquired by Tampa Bay via a trade from the New York Giants in the 2018 offseason, which are the most by any Buccaneers player in that time. His 21.0 sacks over the past two seasons are also tied for the 11th-most in the NFL in that span. In addition, the veteran has recorded 26 quarterback hits, 25 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles over his two-year stint with Tampa Bay.
In 2019, Pierre-Paul notched 8.5 sacks in just 10 games, while contributing 27 tackles (nine for loss), two passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
Through his first 10 seasons in the NFL, Pierre-Paul has played in 137 games, with 109 starts, recording 508 tackles (112 for loss), 79.5 sacks, 51 passes defensed, 16 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, three defensive touchdowns and two interceptions. He was selected to back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2011 and 2012, also earning AP first team All-Pro honors in 2011.
