Tampa Bay Lightning Score Late To Beat Chicago Blackhawks 4-2

A late two goal flurry by the Tampa Bay Lightning earned the Bolts their first victory over a team from the Western Conference this season as Tampa Bay beats the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 in the windy city.Although the Bolts found themselves without the services of Nikita Kucherov who sat due to injury plus Steven Stamkos not hitting the ice for the entire second and third periods of the game, Tampa Bay found enough offense to hold a recently hot Blackhawks team to only a single tally.

Mikhail Sergachev got things started for the Bolts in the first period on the power play as the Bolts defenseman found the back of the net from just inside the blue line giving Tampa Bay an early 1-0 lead. That lead would hold into the third period as Curtis McElhinney played well in net in place of Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Chicago tied the game near mid-way through the third period as Brent Seabrook found the back of the net for the Blackhawks on a rare deflection off McElhinney’s stick from behind the goal line tying the game at one a piece. However Tampa Bay answered back with a pair of goals from Anthony Cirelli off a tip in of a Victor Hedman shot, and Brayden Point added to the Tampa Bay lead as well with a deflection off a Ondrej Palat pass in front of Blackhawks’ goaltender Corey Crawford to make it 3-1 Tampa Bay.

Dylan Strome cut the Lightning lead to 3-2 late in the third for Chicago, but Cedric Paquette added the empty netter securing a 4-2 win for the Tampa Bay Lightning in Chicago.

McElhinney finished the night with 32 saves as the Lightning finally earn their first win over a team from the Western Conference this season.Tamp Bay will return home to host the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night at Amalie Arena.
