USF Unable To Get Offense Going In 35-3 Loss To Navy

@jayRecher

The Bulls knew that they would have their hands full with Navy's vaunted triple-option attack, but it was the defense that really gave USF fits.

The only offense the Bulls could muster was a Spencer Shrader 33 yard field goal in their 35-3 loss to Navy on Saturday afternoon in Annapolis.

The USF defense did a pretty good job for the majority of the first quarter holding the Navy offense in check.....but that didn't last long.

QB Malcolm Perry took one to the house from 67 yards out and that sent the Bulls defense into a tailspin.

The Midshipmen picked up touchdowns on the next two drives, with Jamale Crothers running for a 58 yard touchdown and CJ Williams throwing to OJ Davis for another.

Navy looked to be driving for a fourth touchdown of the first half, but KJ Sails came up big.

The senior cornerback picked off Perry and raced back the other way towards the end zone. Sails looked to have a touchdown, but a questionable penalty to Greg Reaves brought the ball back to the 15. The Bulls couldn't get the ball back into the end zone and had to settle for the Shrader field goal to make it 21-3.

USF looked to score again before the end of the half when Perry threw his second pick of the contest to Nick Roberts. But after a few plays, Jordan McCloud tossed an interception to Chelen Garnes to thwart the Bulls drive.

Perry and Tazh Maloy added touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

McCloud really struggled throwing the football completing 11 of his 23 passes for only 50 yards.

Perry was 0 for 3 through the air, including those two picks, but he ran the ball 22 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

What's Next For The Bulls : USF is back in action next week as they travel to Greenville to take on ECU. Kickoff is slated for 3:45pm EST with the first hour of the pregame show starting at 1:45pm on Bulls Unlimited, followed by the second hour on 953WDAE at 2:45pm.
