The fifth-ranked LSU Tigers (6-0, 2-0) knocked off the seventh-ranked Florida Gators (6-1, 3-1) 42-28 on Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
After a back and forth first half saw the game tied 21-21 at halftime, the Gators struck first in the second half and took a 28-21 lead when the Gators orchestrated an eight play, 76 yard scoring drive that ended in a two-yard touchdown run from Van Jefferson. From there, the Tigers took control, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to come away with a 42-28 victory and continue their dominant run to start the 2019 season.
Joe Burrow was the star of the show for LSU, going 21-for-24 with 293 passing yards and three touchdowns and was tremendous in the second half, leading LSU to the victory. For the Gators, Kyle Trask went 23-for-39 with three touchdowns and an interception in the losing effort. LSU was also able to win the battle rushing, rushing for 218 yards, led by 134 yards from Clyde Edwards-Helaire - the Gators as a team only achieved 146 yards rushing total.
The Gators look to bounce back when they head on the road to battle the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia next Saturday.
