On Friday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play their first game under a new coaching staff & one player in particular is ready to play in a place that he has not seen since his college days.
The Buccaneers will welcome in the Bruce Arians era on Friday. Well, sort of, as the team will be in Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers at Heinz Field in their first preseason game of 2019. And yes, the game won't count in the standings but don't tell that to the players, who are ready to go up against players with a different jersey. As a matter of fact, if you listen to quarterback Jameis Winston in the video below, you would think that yes, the game does matter in the standings.
Winston, who last played at Heinz Field as a redshirt freshman in 2013 when he was at Florida State University, spoke to the media on Tuesday. The quarterback discussed how the development of young offensive players like wide receivers Justin Watson, Bobo Wilson & running back Ronald Jones II are making the team better as a whole. And as you can see below, he also touched up on how fatherhood has changed him personally.
In three days, Winston gets to meet Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the first time & face a real opponent using Arians' offensive system for the first time. And ironically enough, he'll do it at Heinz Field, where he made his first college start. A game that Arians saw Winston play & has openly said how impressed he was with how well the quarterback played that first college game.
