Tyler Glasnow and Jalen Beeks combined to throw a four-hitter, and Tommy Pham hit two of Tampa Bay's three home runs, as the Rays completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 9-1 win Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Tampa Bay wasted little time keeping their streak alive of scoring in the first inning, as Austin Meadows singled off Reynaldo Lopez to start the game and Tommy Pham immediately made it 2-0 with his first home run of the year. Brandon Lowe then doubled two batters later and scored on a base hit by Avisail Garcia for a 3-0 lead before Glasnow even threw a pitch.
Tampa Bay added on in the fourth again thanks to the top of the order, with Meadows and Pham hitting back-to-back two-out solo homers. Ji-Man Choi followed with a double and Lowe drew a walk to extend the inning for Garcia, who drove in Choi with another single for a 6-0 lead.
Meadows made it 8-0 in the fifth with a two-run double off reliever Ryan Burr, who replaced Lopez after the right-hander allowed a leadoff walk to Daniel Robertson and a one-out single to Willy Adames.
Glasnow (3-0) allowed only a second-inning single to Tim Anderson and a third-inning single to Leury Garcia in his six shutout innings. He walked one and struck out a career-best 11 while throwing just 85 pitches.
Adames extended Tampa Bay's lead to 9-0 in the ninth with an RBI single off former teammate Alex Colome.
Jalen Beeks took over for Glasnow to start the seventh and worked the final three innings, allowing the only run of the game on an RBI groundout by Yonder Alonso, but retiring Wellington Castillo to notch his first save as a professional.
Tampa Bay has Thursday off before resuming their road trip Friday in Toronto.
