Licht: One Way Or Another He Was Going To Be Here

As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered the off-season after their 2018 season, one of the biggest questions was would they re-sign their own free agents? Well on Wednesday, the team met with the media announcing they have re-signed left tackle Donovan Smith to a three year contract. Several outlets are reporting the deal is worth $41.25 million with $27 million fully guaranteed.

During the press conference General Manager Jason Licht was clear about the team's intentions this off-season when it came to Smith. And the video below expresses those exact feelings when Licht, after being asked if the team had any intentions of using the franchise tag on Smith, simply said, "One way or another Donovan was going to be here."

Smith, who has started in every game in the past four seasons, will get to continue playing alongside offensive guard Ali Marpet, who like Smith, was drafted in the second round by the team in the 2015 NFL Draft.
