Lightning Rally Past Sabres 5-3 Saturday Night

The Tampa Bay Lightning (35-8-2) knocked off the Buffalo Sabres (23-16-6) for their 10th win in eleven games and are now 18-1-1 in their last 20 games as their remarkable season continues.

The Lightning started this game in the best way you can script, with Bryaden Point scoring just twenty-six seconds into this contest to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.  The Sabres, who defeated the Lightning in Buffalo earlier this season, had an answer waiting.  Sam Reinhart scored to tie the game 1-1 at the 5:47 mark and then a breakdown late in the first for the Bolts allowed Tage Thompson to score at the 19:50 mark to send the game into the first intermission with the Sabres leading 2-1.

After Ondrej Palat tied the game 2-2 at the 7:50 mark of the second period, Buffalo reclaimed the lead at the 5:54 mark in the third period with a goal from Marco Scandella.  Nikita Kucherov had a huge answer waiting as he scored just twenty-three seconds later to knot the game up 3-3.  He then came through with a huge setup of Steven Stamkos to give the team a 4-3 lead   Ryan Callahan clinched the game with a power play goal with 1:19 to go and the Lightning now have 72 points on the season.

Louis Domingue went 30-for-33 in net for the win, starting the first game of a back-to-back on the road.  For the Sabres, Linus Ullmark went 25-for-30 in net getting pegged for the loss.  The Lightning have no time to rest from this one as they travel to the Barclays Center on Sunday.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM - you can hear the game, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30 on News Radio 970 WFLA.
